SCHOOL NEWS:
The Shade Sails were installed this fall.
They have been taken down for the winter.
We are very excited to have them,
and we look forward to using them again in the Spring.

Money for the sails was donated as an end of the year gift in 2010 by the parents. Recently, a generous donation has given us enough money to complete the project. Thank you to all who donated to make this happen.

Along with celebrating 40 years of learning, The Village Pre-School also announced they have a new Director Randi Rote. Randi, brings with her almost 20 years of experience as a teacher of young children. Mrs. Rote holds a BA in Education and Art Therapy from SUNY Buffalo and a Master’s Degree in Childhood and Adolescent Study from Western CT State University. She also holds CT Teacher Certification in pre-K – grade 6 and a CT Head Teacher Certificate.
When asked why she chose Village Preschool to come work for, Randi replied, “I was first attracted to the Village Pre-School because of its philosophy of education, creative programs and dedicated teaching staff. The program at VPS is developmentally appropriate, stresses learning through play and encourages each child to become independent, as well as fosters their self-esteem. Every teacher at the school has a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, expertise in various areas of early childhood education and a deep concern for their students. ”
Randi brings her background in art, specifically drawing and painting to our school. She has developed a program that can be used to teach children about the “Masters” and their work, which will further enhance Village Pre-Schools art education.
As an educator, Randi says she finds the programs at this school help the children to relate to others in a social setting and engage in meaningful play through carefully planned activities. School readiness skills that are focused on include enthusiasm toward learning, ability to listen, and basic number and letter recognition. As a parent, I have the same concerns about children’s education as all moms and dads and look forward to working with the teaching staff to provide a positive and exciting, educational journey.
The Village Pre-School was founded in 1971 as a non-religious outreach program of the Bethel United Methodist Church to serve the families and children of Bethel and surrounding communities. The Village Pre-School has grown and changed to meet the ever-changing needs of their children. We are proud of the Village Pre-School and its national accreditation and its accomplishments over the last 40 years of educating your children and ours. The Village Pre-School, owned and sponsored by the Bethel United Methodist Church, is a non-profit, non-sectarian pre-school open to all three, four and five year old children in the community. The purpose of the school is to provide the best possible pre-school experience in an atmosphere of love and acceptance. Their goal is to promote the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of young children. Their very dedicated teaching staff consists of two Head Teachers in addition to other Teachers, each with a specialty. Margaret Malatestinic ,the Assistant Director as well as one of their Head Teachers and Physical Fitness/ Movement Specialist and our Pre-K Teacher. Caryl Timmel, Head Teacher specializing in Music and Movement. Elizabeth Burwell, a Teacher and the Literacy and Sign Language Specialist.
